The prize-giving ceremony was held on 01 July 2011 on the premises of the AIC Automotive Intelligence Center (www.aicenter.eu/) in Amorebieta – Bizkaia (Spain).
The ceremony was attended by, amongst others, Imanol Pradales, the Deputy for Economic Development at the Provincial Council of Bizkaia ; José Ramón Goikoetxea, Vice-president for the Automotive Area at MONDRAGON; and Ignacio Sola, the President of the Basque Association of Industrial Designers (EIDE).
First prize, with the award of 8,000 euros, went to the project “Leisure Microdot” developed by José Ignacio Aguirre, Manuel Álvarez, Javier Machimbarrena and Alex Ochoa de Aspuru, all of whom are designers at the international firm Mandesso Design.
Second prize, and 4,000 euros, was awarded to the project “Travelling is Discovering”, whose authors are Iraia Sanz, Johanna Starkl and Sila Pascual, students at the Higher College of Design (Escuela Superior de Diseño) in La Rioja.
Third prize, and 3,000 euros, was for the project “Wicker&Crochet”, presented by Paula Canalejo, Miriam Carcía, Marta Gómez and Claudia Gómez, also students at the Higher College of Design (Escuela Superior de Diseño) in La Rioja.
The entries for this fourth edition of the awards involved a total of 99 projects from different countries, such as France, The Netherlands, Spain, Russia, India, Brazil and the USA, reflecting the huge interest there is in this competition organised by the MAIER Group.
